CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — A four-vehicle crash on Interstate 37 South near mile marker 49 left a 68-year-old man dead Monday, DPS confirms.
Troopers say Eustacio Cantu of Elmendorf was travelling southbound in the outside lane when his truck traveled into the shoulder and struck a guard rail.
The vehicle then travelled into the middle of the interstate when it was struck by another vehicle.
Cantu was then hit by another truck driven by a different driver.
Finally, a G-series van driven by a Buda man hit the side of Cantu's truck, causing it to come to rest in the outside lane of I- 37.
Cantu was pronounced deceased at the scene by Justice of the Peace Donnie Watkins. The crash remains under investigation by Troopers from the Beeville Highway Patrol Office.
Another driver was transported to Christus Spohn in Beeville for his injuries.
