CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — The Texas A&M System has launched a free app that is designed to provide immediate and confidential access to mental health resources.
The TELUS app gives currently enrolled Texas A&M University- Corpus Christi and Kingsville students access to licensed mental health professionals that have at least 3 to 5 years of post-masters experience.
TAMU-CC Counseling Center Director Theresa Sharpe said the app provides further help beyond what is already available on campus.
"College is exciting but can also be stressful for students, and we know stressors can take a toll emotionally, mentally on students and so, for students to be able to cope with stress, manage mental health concerns, is very vital for their academic success and their overall wellness," Sharpe said.
The app allows for 24/7 access to immediate mental health features including phone support, videos, articles and peer support.
