Border Patrol arrests 2 Miller High School students near US-Mexico border for human smuggling

When agents stopped a vehicle seen swerving they discovered five people hiding in the back seat.

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Border Patrol agents stopped and detained two students from Miller High School near the U.S.-Mexico border May 9.

According to an affidavit, Abel Jesus Hernandez and Robert Lee Williams were seen swerving on Highway 35 just north of Laredo.

When agents pulled the vehicle over they discovered five other people hiding in the back seat. The five individuals were citizens of Mexico with no legal documentation to enter or live in the US.

The Corpus Christi Police Department told 3NEWS the two were arrested and detained by Border Patrol for human smuggling.

It is not known at this time if they are still in custody.
