Motorcyclist who died in Sunday morning crash on I-37 identified

Authorities said a motorcyclist collided with a vehicle near the Leopard Street exit and ended up going over the railing.

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — The Nueces County Medical Examiner's Office identified Monday the victim in a fatal two-vehicle accident involving a motorcycle over the weekend.

It happened just after 10 a.m. Sunday on I-37. Authorities said a motorcyclist collided with a vehicle near the Leopard Street exit and ended up going over the railing. Police shut down southbound Highway 286 following the accident and urged drivers to avoid the area.

The motorcyclist died from his injuries. He was identified Monday as 23-year-old John Wesley Barrett of Rusk, Texas.
