CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Progress continues on the Harbor Bridge Project as crews target the goal of a spring 2025 opening.
Much of that work has been visible on both the towers and the cable-stayed bridge that stretches across the water near the current Harbor Bridge.
Spokesperson Lynn Allison told 3NEWS that the work that was recently completed on the South Tower marks a big milestone for the project.
“We’ve just completed all of the upper tower lifts on the South Tower, so both the north and the south are complete at about 540 feet tall, making it the tallest structure in South Texas,” Allison said.
She also reports that they are still on track to complete the closure of the cable-stayed bridge and have the last cables installed in December of this year.
Meanwhile, surface paving will switch from the frontage roads to the main lanes of I-37 next week and will continue throughout the month of October.
Drivers are asked to keep an eye out for any lane closures.
