Mi Casita Montessori School brings Paraguay to South Texas students

As part of their Hispanic Heritage Month learning, this week, the students learned about the South American country Paraguay.

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — There was a lot of excitement for teachers, students and staff over at Mi Casita Montessori School on Wednesday as they celebrated its 23rd anniversary which also happens to land in Hispanic Heritage Month!

This week, the students at the Spanish immersion school learned about the South American country Paraguay.

To experience a piece of their culture the kids got to try mbejú, a traditional buttery crispy cheese flatbread!

It is just one example of how Mi Casita aims to bring different communities together and educate students about the values and traditions of different cultures.

"Having those real-life experiences, the real experience to taste, to touch, to go through all the different things as if they were really in Paraguay visiting Christina," Mi Casita owner Lizania Garcia said. "We are speaking Spanish to the kids all day long."
