Port of Corpus Christi gives away 200 Christmas trees

Another giveaway will be happening Thursday in Ingleside.

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — The Port of Corpus Christi tree giveaway took place Tuesday night, with many families getting the opportunity to receive a Christmas tree and some ornaments completely free.

NuStar partnered with the Port of Corpus Christi to sponsor the event in which 200 trees were given away.

"We take part in activities like this because it means a lot to us to help spread joy and cheer, especially this time of year,” said Nu Star Energy’s regional human resources and public affairs manager C. Michelle Unda. “We want to help our neighbors feel how happy we are everyday."

Another tree and ornament giveaway is happening Thursday night, in San Patricio County, at N.O. Simmons Park in Ingleside.

Port of Corpus Christi CEO Kent Britton said this is a favorite event of the group’s, and that it enjoys being able to give back and do some good in the community.
