City's 'Safe Fun-Fit Summerfest' kicks off June 7

Already 850 people have registered to participate!

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — The Corpus Christi Parks and Recreation Department shared details Thursday on the second annual Safe Fun-Fit Endurance Fest happening June 7-9 at the Bayfront.

The event was created as a wellness initiative to positively impact and and promote a healthier Corpus Christi.

The fest was a big success last year, and so far, there are already 850 people who have registered to participate.

Sergio Gonzales, the assistant director for Parks and Recreation, shared with 3NEWS what will be offered at the event.

"Last year, we had smaller distances and this year we decided to up that just because of the turnout and the request for it and so we're excited about our 25k, we're excited about our 40-mile ride and everything else in between," Gonzalez said.

The three-day event will kick off with a Feature Glow Run.

There is still time for everyone to get involved as registration is still open to the community. If you're interested you can check out the city's website here.
