CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — San Patricio County Sheriff Oscar Rivera told 3NEWS that the four-year-old drowning victim discovered Tuesday morning is Gabriel Gonzalez.
Rivera says he has been in law enforcement for 50 years and he says it is always tough to see family members having to grieve over the loss loved ones.
The missing 4-year-old drowning victim has been recovered at Lake Corpus Christi State Park, according to Sheriff Oscar Rivera.
The 29-year-old man found in Lake Corpus Christi late Monday morning has been identified as Pedro Aguirre, San Patricio County Sheriff Oscar Rivera tells 3NEWS.
He, along with his 4-year-old son, were reported missing in the water in Lake Corpus Christi on Sunday evening.
Rivera said the search will continue until the toddler is found.
He said the 4-year-old was caught in an undercurrent when family members went to help.
The San Patricio County Sheriff's Office told 3NEWS that rescue efforts initially centered on a party of five people at the lake. Three of those people were rescued. Aguirre and his son did not surface. Deputies assisted Texas Parks and Wildlife with the search Sunday night, but they were unable to find them.
Search efforts resumed around 7 a.m. on Monday, but officials told 3NEWS crew that windy conditions were complicating search efforts.
Texas Parks and Wildlife Division Game Wardens, Lake Corpus Christi State Park personnel, Sandia Volunteer Fire Department and the San Patricio County Sheriff's Department were all on the scene to help search for the two missing people.
