CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Due to the continued rain we have received, the state has deployed water-rescue boat squads here in the Coastal Bend.
Six member squads with two water-rescue boats are pre-positioned to respond to serious flooding conditions in our area.
Each boat has two fuel tanks and throw-bags ready for flood rescues.
Marcus Stillwell, a Water Squad Leader who came all the way from the Dallas area said that being deployed allows him the chance to serve and protect.
"We get to go outside our local agency and gain additional experience and help on a larger level than just a local fire department," said Stillwell.
The Texas A&M Task Force has highly trained personnel.
So far, they are on standby and continue to monitor weather conditions. They are prepared to help in the areas where they are needed the most.
