Student volunteers trade in summer for those in need at Sea City Work Camp

Judah Harmes & Madison Genz say they enjoy getting to wake up on early summer mornings before heading out to spend the day working on homes in need of refurbishment.

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Judah Harmes & Madison Genz help change lives in the neighborhoods they serve.

That's because the Sea City Work Camp is back and giving high schoolers like them the chance to improve homes in need of repairs.

This year is the organization's 33rd year of aid to the community.

Public Relations Chair Kathy Rios says she hopes the teens will adopt a passion for serving others that they will carry into adulthood.

She says the program has been a huge success and they are always looking for more volunteers.

"We're supposed to be out there helping others," said Rios.

The organization began when leaders noticed there was a chance to have community members help those in need.

Judah and Madison say they have enjoyed getting to wake up on early summer mornings before heading out to spend the day working on homes in need of refurbishment.

The students served as leaders at this years' camp and say it was a chance to grow in their faith and make a positive impact through service and hard work.
