CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Residents enjoying their day off downtown became concerned after spotting what appeared to be a sunken vessel at McGee Beach.
Viewers could see the top of the boat, along with other parts marked by a buoy. One beachgoer was concerned enough that he swam out to the vessel to ensure no one was in distress.
"I don't know if there was people in distress or if people died, you know I don't know. I just went out there to check it out so far all I found was the top of the boat. the rest of it I seen was ripped up by the waves so I didn't know what to do," said concerned beach visitor Michael Jones.
3NEWS learned the sunken vessel washed up on Wednesday. The General Land Office is conducting the investigation and is responsible for disposing of the boat.
