CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — On Wednesday college leaders from across the A&M System joined TAMU-CC representatives in picking up shovels to break ground on the future site of the university's new arts and media building.
The project is 25 years in the making and is a facility university officials said has been desperately needed for quite some time as their dance, theater and music programs have grown.
The building, expected to be complete by spring 2026, will offer a recital hall for performances along with sound-proof studios.
Dr. Diana Sipes Director of the School of Arts, Media and Communication, said those kinds of amenities are in high demand.
"And a cultural hub for our community where we can put on top notch theater productions, we can put on beautiful performances in our recital hall and our students are going to be able to continue to get a top notch education as well," Sipes said.
Funds for the new facility came thanks to the state and an anonymous donor.
