CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Ten outstanding Coastal Bend teachers were handpicked by their peers and principals to participate in the Reliant All-Star Educators Program shopping spree on Thursday!
Reliant Energy and the Corpus Christi Hooks Club teamed up to provide this opportunity because they know teachers often make big sacrifices for their students, like spending their own money on school supplies for their classrooms.
This year, the All-Star Educators Program provided the teachers with $15,000 for classroom supplies!
"It's a little too early in the summer to go back to school, but it feels really good that someone is thinking about us, so were able to outfit our classrooms to help out the kids learn some stuff," Moody High School CITGO Innovation Academy Teacher Randall Stuart said.
Reliant officials told 3NEWS they provide the teachers with funding so each student has the chance to learn in any curriculum they may be in and the All-Star Educators Program makes sure each of their ten teachers have a successful school year.
