'Tejano couture:' South Texas native Nicó Lee celebrates homecoming show

The designer said he started his career using trashed fabrics at his parents' house in the Coastal Bend.

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — South Texas native and fashion designer Nicó celebrated his homecoming show at the Art Center Friday night.

The "Tejano couture" innovator took a chance on a dream of designing high end fashion ten years ago,

His dresses have been featured in national magazines, red carpets and more.

3News caught up with Nicó as part of our Hispanic Heritage Month coverage in October, when, at the time, Friday night's fashion show was just an idea.

We caught up with Nicó and asked what it means to see the show brought to life back home in the Coastal Bend.

"I got my start just kind of working with trashed fabrics in my parents' living room and we're celebrating a decade later. We just did NY fashion week, we just did Elle, we're getting ready for Paris in the spring... it's just like this massive full circle moment," said Nicó.

Nicó Lee's work is inspired by culture the Coastal Bend itself and family.
