CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — A man in his 60s was hit and killed by a city of Corpus Christi vehicle after crossing the 4000 block of Ayers Street.
His identity has not been released.
The vehicle was driving northbound on Ayers at about 9:09 a.m. Wednesday, changing lanes from the left lane into the right, when Corpus Christi Police Department Public Information Sr. Ofc. Jennifer Collier said the man ran across the road and was hit.
He was taken to a local hospital where he later died of his injuries.
Collier said the man was not using a crosswalk, and the driver was not speeding, which leaves the man at fault in the accident.
He is the third elderly man to die under similar circumstances in less than two weeks.
On Oct. 10 and Oct. 11, respectively, Donald Davila was killed after trying to cross Waldron Road and Samuel DeLeon was killed also trying to cross Ayers Street.
Neither man was using a crosswalk.
