CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Three people died in a two-vehicle crash involving an ambulance in Hebbronville on Wednesday morning.
Troopers were dispatched to the accident site at around 4:59 a.m., said DPS Sgt. Erick Estrada, where a white 2016 GMC Sierra and a Victorious Care Ambulance -- a 2016 Chevrolet -- had been involved in an accident.
Estrada said the preliminary investigation indicates that the truck, driven by 27-year-old Roma resident Jaime Barrera Jr., was heading west on State Hwy. 16.
The ambulance was heading east, and the truck crossed in the ambulance's lane, hitting it head-on.
Barrera Jr., as well as the ambulance's driver, 66-year-old Zapata resident Andres Botello, and passenger 23-year-old Zapata resident Jose Guadalupe Cepeda Lara all were pronounced dead at the scene.
