CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — A step van caught fire near W.B. Ray High School Thursday afternoon, temporarily shutting down the South Staples Street and Texan Trail intersection.
Corpus Christi Fire Department crews responded to the call around 2:15 p.m. and a second fire engine was sent to the scene for assistance, according to Battalion Chief Jackie Burrows.
The crews were able to quickly put out the fire.
Fire department officials believe the fire was likely caused from a generator in the back of the vehicle along with a loose gas cap.
The step van received minimal damage to the back and the driver is said to be okay.
