Upgraded Surfside Park opens on Monday

This project was part of the Bond 2020 and it cost about six million dollars, all aimed at improving community amenities and infrastructure.

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — The City of Corpus Christi is planning to host a ribbon-cutting ceremony Monday to mark the completion of the new Surfside Park improvements on North Beach.

This project was part of the Bond 2020 and it cost about six million dollars, all aimed at improving community amenities and infrastructure.

City Manager Peter Zanoni explained how the project was pre-designed to help mitigate the flooding on North Beach

"It takes care of some of the basics, as well to include elevation. And so you can see standing water in some of the areas from the rain, but notice that the entire site here is dry and there's no ponding and that was by design," said Zanoni.

There will be a ribbon-cutting on Monday at 9 a.m. to mark the official opening of the new Surfside Park restrooms, parking and play area.
