CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas —
An area veteran was laid to rest today at the Coastal Bend State Veterans Cemetery.
U.S. Army Sergeant, Harvey Louis Davis Jr., was honored in an unaccompanied veteran burial at the cemetery.
According to the Veterans Affairs, "unaccompanied" burials are for unclaimed veterans and veterans whose family are not able to attend a burial service. They are usually attended by members of the local and military community.
Davis was born on December 18, 1948, and went on to serve in the U.S. Army from October 1966 until September 1969.
During that time, Sergeant Davis received the National Defense Service Medal, the Army Commendation Medal, a Bronze Star and a Vietnam Service Medal with four Bronze Service Stars for his service to the United States.
