CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — You never know what the day will bring.
For the woman behind the Padre Island Madre Facebook page, Friday morning looked unlike most during her usual stroll along the Whitecap Beach shoreline.
"I had just pulled into the beach and was looking for the sun through the clouds when I noticed something at the shoreline," said photographer and blogger Nicole Scofield.
You can find a video of her discovery posted below, but be advised, there is an angle of the video that depicts what appears to be an open wound in the shark's abdomen.
Nicole said that she almost didn't believe what she was seeing before grabbing her camera equipment to capture the moment.
"My first thought was 'oh my gosh is that a shark!?' I used Google lens to see what kind it might be, it said blacktip or fine tooth."
"I am on the beach every morning, and this is my first time finding a shark, so I was very interested in seeing it up close and personal," said Scofield. "It had a small hole it's in stomach area, but I couldn't really tell if he had been bitten there or not because I didn't notice teeth marks on the skin."
Scofield said that a man from the Turtle Patrol came by to remove the dead animal from the shore after about thirty minutes.
