CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — A mosquito has tested positive for West Nile Virus in Kingsville, according to City Health Director Emilio Garcia.
No human West Nile cases have been reported.
According to a press release, the mosquito was trapped on Aug. 13 in the 700 block of E. Warren Avenue during regular monthly trapping where samples are sent to the Texas Department of State Health Services lab in Austin for testing.
Crews will begin spraying impacted locations Friday evening through Sunday.
The City urges residents to follow mosquito prevention practices such as using mosquito repellant that contains DEET, avoiding outdoor activity at dawn and dusk as this is when mosquitoes are most active and ensuring there is no tall grass or standing water on your property.
