CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Calallen beat Longview Spring Hill 3-2 in 8 innings at UT-Austin's Disch-Falk Field in the 4A state semifinal on Wednesday.
Drayson Gamez connected with the ball and a throwing error by Spring Hill shortstop Wyatt McFadin allowed Drayton Mitchell to score the winning run for the Wildcats.
They will now face Texarkana Liberty-Eylau at 6:30 p.m. Thursday for the 4A State Championship.
Sports Director Chris Thomasson is in Austin for the action.
The Wildcats' last trip to state for baseball was 2011, and they'll be looking to win their fourth title in program history, but their first since 2008.
No. 7 Calallen is the highest-ranked team in Austin for the tournament.
