4A Softball Championship: Calallen Ladycats win back-to-back titles

No. 1 Calallen softball repeats as state champions with a 2-1 win over No. 2 Liberty! Sophomore pitcher Jordyn Thibodeaux has been named tournament MVP.

AUSTIN, Texas — The top-ranked Calallen Ladycats have won a repeat state title.

Abby Vickers put Liberty on the board first, at the top of the second inning, with a solo home run to right field, but Calallen's Audryna Almaraz's bottom-of-the-fourth sacrifice fly brought Megan Geyer in to tie it up.

Braelyn Bailey scored on a sacrifice fly by Brookelynn Meador in the fifth to put the Ladycats up for good.

Jordyn Thibodeaux (21-1) went the distance for Calallen, taking home the win and was named tournament MVP.
