CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — The Coastal Bend Sports Hall of Fame and Awards Show will honor a local athlete that "exemplifies heart, hustle and sportsmanship."
3NEWS is proud to sponsor the "Athlete with Heart Award," given to one of three nominees.
Veterans Affairs psychologist by day and triathlete by night, Dr. Joel Wendell, took home the "Athlete with Heart Award" during the first-ever Coastal Bend Sports Hall of Fame and Awards Show.
We profiled a different nominee every Monday leading up to the banquet on Thursday, June 6th.
