The Miller Bucs Hall of Famer died unexpectedly in January after suffering a heart attack.
He touched the lives of athletes in our area for years.
Funds raised at the event will go directly to his children.
The South Texas baseball community suffered a huge loss yesterday when local instructor William Roland dies unexpectedly from a heart attack.
Roland was a Miller Buccaneers Hall of Famer who graduated in 1992 and was inducted in 2007. He was drafted by the Cincinnati Reds out of high school, but decided to go to college and eventually was picked up by the Kansas City Royals organization' where he played in the minor leagues.
But it was his prowess for fixing a swing that had him dubbed "The Hit Doctor" as hundreds if not thousands of local high school players learned from him at his academy or played under him in travel ball.
Will Roland was just 50-years-old. 3NEWS sends its condolences to his family and friends.
