CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — TARS Awareness Texas announced their 2nd annual 5K TARS awareness race and book release this Sunday on Domingo Live!
TARS is short for Thrombocytopenia Absent Radius Syndrome, meaning the absence of the radius arm bone. Because TARS is considered to be extremely rare, the need for awareness is vital to the success of the non-profit TARS Awareness Texas.
The 5K race will be taking place at Cole Park on April 6 starting at 8 a.m.
Attendees are asked to wear a blue shirt to support those with TARS.
If you are unable to attend the event but would still like to participate, there is also a virtual option that is available when signing up.
TARS Awareness Texas also has their first children's book, 'Emma Goes to the Circus', finally out and available to purchase on Amazon.
"It just shows how she's able to do, just like anybody else, what they can do," said Emma's mother Marla Hamann. "It may take her a little bit more time or do it her way, but she can do it."
While they are in the process of editing their second book, they are asking the community to be on the lookout for the 'Emma's Adventure Series'.
