What led to Sunday morning's homicide on Moultrie Drive?

Cody Ramos was charged with murder after medics found a man with an apparent gunshot wound to the head near the front door of his home.

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — CCPD has released new details on what led to the arrest of Cody Ramos after a fatal shooting early Sunday morning on Moultrie Drive.

Officers were dispatched to the St. Andrews Park area neighborhood shortly around 2 a.m. after receiving a call saying the reporting party was being robbed and had shot a man.

Police say they soon learned the caller was friends with the man, who is identified in an arrest narrative report as 'Albert.'

When they arrived, investigators found the victim near the front door with an apparent bullet wound to his head.

In the report, an investigator said Ramos had been 'removed from the residence via the front window' before being detained in a nearby police unit.

Ramos' parents arrived at the scene and told police their son admitted to shooting the victim over the phone, believing that he was stealing from him. Ramos allegedly had the man empty out his pockets earlier in the night--that's when the victim started to run from him before Ramos fired a fatal shot.

Police discovered a black revolver handgun in the middle of the living room floor during their investigation. They believe it was the weapon used in the shooting. Narcotics and drug paraphernalia were also found in large quantities, according to the report.

The Nueces County Medical Examiner told 3NEWS the victim had not been positively identified as of Tuesday morning.
