CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — The City of Corpus Christi's Animal Care Services is looking to hire eight more staff members as it is currently operating at 108 percent capacity. Even guinea pigs and turtles are being dropped off!
Interim Director Kathleen Chapa said this increase in demand can be tough on their limited staff.
"The staff is very dedicated that we have, so they are there every day, all night answering calls trying to get to every public nuisance or public safety call that they can," Chapa said, "First injured or sick, so it is a lot of workload on the staff."
She says she'd like to see additional officers on staff as they work to operate on a 24-hour schedule to maximize their presence in the community.
