CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Aransas Pass Police Department Patrol Captain Alvin Luker was hit from behind by an SUV while riding his three-wheel motorcycle.
The crash happened around 10:30 Wednesday morning in front of Aransas Autoplex on West Wheeler Avenue, according to a press release from APPD.
Officials say Luker was thrown from the motorcycle and suffered significant injuries including broken bones, internal damage and nerve damage.
He was transported to a hospital in Corpus Christi for surgery and will be sent to a larger city in Texas for additional surgeries.
A GoFundMe has been set up in his name to help cover hospital expenses.
This is the second police officer hit on the road while driving a motorcycle this week.
On Tuesday a CCPD officer was hit while guiding a funeral procession.
Both accidents were difficult for the respective police departments as well as onlookers to witness. CCPD said those who need support resources can call the non-emergency number to learn more.
