CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Beach to Bay runners have all been getting ready for what's one of the largest relay marathons in the U.S.
They've trained long and hard, but Friday night may have been the peak of their prep work... carb loading!
3NEWS saw a group of racers who made the journey from out of town. They were filling up their tanks at Frank's Spaghetti House, a popular local spot to dine before the big relay.
'Speed Burro Running' President Juan Esquivel was joined by Vice President of the running club Danielle Garcia, both thrilled to be in town for the event. And they didn't come alone.
"This year is our biggest team turnout," Esquivel gushed. "We have 16 teams representing at Beach to Bay, so it's great support. We have some of our members here from San Antonio, Texas that came out to partake."
Garcia echoed his sentiment, sharing how much the relay means to her. "It's a wonderful race," she said. "It's a great way to get the runners and the community together for health and wellness."
3NEWS wishes their team, and all of the participants, good luck and a great race!
