Bond reduced for man accused of fatally shooting friend in Flour Bluff

If Smith is able to come up with the money and bond out he will face house arrest, with a curfew and check ins.

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — A man accused of killing another man in Flour Bluff nearly one year ago was back in court Friday morning asking for a bond reduction.

Eric Smith faces murder charges for the shooting death of his one-time friend Randy Thacker.

According to Corpus Christi Police, Smith shot Thacker on July 25th, 2023 on Flour Bluff Drive.

Smith then told police he shot Thacker because he was moving toward him with an object in his hand following a disagreement.

Judge David Klein granted him a bond reduction.

It went from $35,000 to $20,000.

If Smith is able to come up with the money and bond out he will face house arrest, a curfew and check-ins.

A trial date has not yet been set.
