CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — A San Patricio County judge denied former Mathis Police Department Chief Scott Roush's request for bail reduction Friday.
Roush is accused of a total of nine counts of tampering with evidence, theft and theft of a firearm, and is being held in the San Patricio County Jail on $250,000 bond.
The latter charge stems from a weapon reportedly being taken from the Mathis evidence lockup during Roush's time as chief and being taken to a residence in Live Oak County.
Because the weapon crossed jurisdictional lines, San Patricio County Sheriff Oscar Rivera said Live Oak County has filed theft of a firearm charges against Roush as well.
He is being held on a separate $25,000 bond for this charge.
