CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — First Edition has received preliminary totals for the Corpus Christi Fire Department's Fill the Boot campaign.
After wrapping its final Friday with firefighters out collecting donations at major intersections, the fundraiser has collected a total of $113,192.08 in in-person and online giving.
Fire fighters have been campaigning and fundraising out on street corners throughout the city each Friday during the month of March and just finished counting up their cash and change donations early this week to find that they met and surpassed the year's goal.
The fundraiser benefits the Muscular Dystrophy Association and money collected goes towards many children suffering from the disease in our community. The more than $113,000 surpasses last year's fundraising efforts.
Fire officials say they are grateful to all who gave and plan to continue to collect through the end of this month.
