CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — If you have ever considered a career with the Corpus Christi Fire Department Saturday will be your opportunity to learn more about what it takes to become a local hero.
CCFD is hosting a recruitment open house Saturday morning at Fire Station 18 on Ayers Street.
You will be able to meet local firefighters, discuss benefits and salary and learn how to apply.
3NEWS caught up with Assistant Chief Billy Belyeu who is ready host potential candidates for the 48th Fire Academy.
"One of the benefits is to be an asset to the community, to be able to give back to the community. Saving lives is one way to do that, we also do a lot of philanthropic work to be involved with the citizens of Corpus Christi. Great benefits, great schedule, a great opportunity for people looking for something to do," said Belyeu.
It starts at 10 a.m. on Saturday and runs through 2 p.m. at Fire Station 18 on Ayers Street.
