CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — The Corpus Christi Independent School District has provided 3NEWS with an update on an incident related to an employee’s social media comment on the attempted assassination of former president Donald Trump nearly two weeks ago.
The statement reads:
"While we cannot share details of personnel matters, we can confirm the employee is no longer with the district."
In response to a post of a news article on social media, the staff member commented saying, "Sorry President Biden!!! We are just so sad they missed the shot! Good people die everyday that have made a difference in peoples lives. This one Coward deserves all the bad that is coming his way!!! I pray the next one is successful!"
In response to the comment the district released the following statement:
"Corpus Christi ISD is aware of an employee's social media comment related to the recent shooting in Pennsylvania. While we cannot comment on personnel matters, we want to assure the community that the district is actively investigating. Such comments in no way reflect the values of our school district. Corpus Christi ISD condemns violence of any kind and works every day to create warm, welcoming environments at all schools."
According to the CCISD employee handbook, employees are responsible for their conduct even when they're not at school, both in public and online.
3NEWS has chosen not to name or show the staff member as they are not charged with any crime.
