CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Parents, get out your box of tissues –your little ones are growing up!
CCISD is set to host pre-kindergarten registration this Saturday from 9 a.m.- 1 p.m. at the 4321 Prescott campus. English and Spanish speakers will be available for parents and guardians who need assistance registering their children.
Dr. Cynthia Hernandez joined us on First Edition with information on what all parents need to know about registering their kiddos for the 2024-2025 school year.
Though families often face mixed emotions when their little ones first begin their education journeys, Dr. Hernandez says pre-education is an exciting and important time for their child's foundational success.
"Pre-kindergarten attendance really promotes those early foundation skills that students need to be ready for kindergarten."
CCISD follows experiential learning, which is a play-based learning style that Hernandez says helps kids understand and remember the basics before going into kindergarten.
"It follows all of the research that shows just how effective those early learning initiatives can be."
CCISD says they will never turn a student away, but families should keep in mind that some choice campuses like their Early Childhood Development Center and the Metro E Fine Arts Academy fill up quickly.
"We will always have room for every student who wants to enroll in our pre-indergarten programs," said Dr. Hernandez.
If attending Saturday's event, here is what you bring to registration and what you should keep in mind beforehand:
