CCISD receives $182k grant during State of the District on Tuesday

During the presentation, Superintendent Dr. Roland Hernandez highlighted many of the district's wins, all leading up to the big announcement.

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Corpus Christi Independent School District celebrated the year's achievements at the annual State of the District held at the American Bank Center on Tuesday.

During the presentation, Superintendent Dr. Roland Hernandez highlighted many wins including positive feedback from parents on their new cellphone rule, the merging of schools into new facilities and seeing the highest enrollment for pre-K.

"We have more than 2,100 children now enrolled in our pre-K program for ages three and four let's give them a round of applause," Hernandez told event attendees.

He also provided a construction update on the district's two new middle schools.

Hernandez's main address led to a final announcement of a huge achievement by the district, as it received a $182,200 grant from the Corpus Christi Education Foundation.

"It's very important for us to have this event, one it tells all about what CCISD is doing which really excites individuals, but it also raises funds so we can grant innovative grants back to the educators to keep the students engaged," Chairman of the Corpus Christi Education Foundation Gina Prince said.

Each year, the check for educators' grants grows!

Officials with the Corpus Christi Education Foundation said the students are always the most excited for the grant because they get to find out what fun projects they will be working on throughout the school year.
