CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Two members of the Corpus Christi Police Department are took the next step in their career Friday afternoon.
Senior officer Billy Gaines was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant and Lt. Kevin Quesada was promoted to the rank of Captain.
Lt. Gaines will be assigned to serve in the city's south side, and Cpt. Quesada will serve the community in the Annaville and Calallen area.
3NEWS spoke with Cpt. Quesada, who will be transitioning into his new role after 14 years of working with the department.
"Everybody that has been in my life has been an influence, it's just great I'm very lucky for having the police department we have the family I have, the community we have," said Quesada. "That makes things very easy for me."
"It's the community I was born and raised in it's my honor to do what I do, and the least I can do is give back."
