CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — The Nueces County Medical Examiner has identified 67-year-old Sergio Mercado as the man hit and killed in traffic accident on Monday.
CCPD confirmed to 3NEWS that a pedestrian was crossing the road outside of the crosswalk at an intersection near the Cactus Motel.
The incident happened just before 7 a.m. on Monday, CCPD Lt. Michael Peña said.
Preliminary information states that the driver did not see the man crossing at the time of the accident.
The department did confirm to 3NEWS that the driver remained on scene.
Parts of the roadway at the intersection of McBride and Leopard Street are closed down as investigators work to direct traffic away from the pedestrian accident near the Cactus Motel.
