KINGSVILLE, Texas — The City of Kingsville held a news conference Friday afternoon to provide updates about Thursday night's severe thunderstorm.
Kingsville sustained heavy damage in several areas due to a strong downburst in the heart of town, according to the National Weather Service.

It was initially unclear if the damage was caused by a downburst or a tornado, but a NWS team surveyed the area and concluded that a downburst with winds reaching 85-90 miles per hour hit the area.
