CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — TxDOT is initiating their yearly "Click It or Ticket" campaign starting Monday. In addition to educational outreach, Texas law enforcement checks will increase around the state to enforce seat belt safety laws until June 2.
The campaign aims to save lives by reminding drivers and passengers to always wear their seat belt.
Texas law requires everyone in a vehicle to buckle up or face fines and court costs up to $200.
Children younger than eight years old must be in a child safety seat or booster seat, unless they are taller than 4 feet and 9 inches. If they aren't properly restrained, you will face a $250 fine in addition to court costs.
