Series of crashes along SPID end in DWI charges for three individuals

After arriving to the initial wreck location, CCPD quickly made two additional DWI charges.

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — The Corpus Christi Police Department is conducting an investigation into a series of car crashes that occurred early Friday morning along SPID.

Police were dispatched to a wreck near SPID and Airline just after 3 a.m. Friday where they found a female driver had rear-ended a vehicle in front of her. She was arrested for driving while intoxicated.

As officers were on the scene of that crash, they made contact with a man who stopped his vehicle and was standing nearby. He told police he had been following his friend on the highway. After speaking with the man CCPD determined that he too was intoxicated and arrested for a DWI.

Meanwhile, another vehicle traveling on the highway hit one of the unoccupied police units, parked with its emergency lights on that was at the scene for traffic control during the initial wreck. Police said the driver in this vehicle was also found to be intoxicated. There were no injuries for either crash, but ultimately: two women and one man all wound up being arrested for DWIs in this series of crashes.
