CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Christmas came early today for more than 60 nonprofits that do amazing things here in the Coastal Bend community.
The 16th annual Coastal Bend Day of Giving distributed the record-breaking funds to those organizations today.
This year a total of $4,275,104 was raised.
The organization that raised the most funds this year was Peewee's Pet Adoption, followed by the Coastal Bend Food Bank.
"We were very very ecstatic and appreciative of the outpouring of the people in our community," Peewee's Pet Adoption President Alan Garett said. "It was beyond our wildest dreams that we did so well."
3NEWS also caught up with the founder of LEAD First, Guy Nickleson, who shared with us how far the funds stretch.
"It's great to get some money to pour back into the lives of our young kids and our community, you know," he said. "Making a difference day by day is what life really is about. With LEAD First 90 percent of what we bring in goes back to the young people of our community and that's hard to say "
Day of Giving has raised more than $32.3 million for local nonprofits providing services to our community throughout their time.
