CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — The Texas Marine Mammal Stranding Network is issuing a heads up to the state's coastal residents following Tropical Storm Alberto and ahead of future developments this hurricane season.

The conservation non-profit made a statement over the weekend urging beachgoers to 'keep those peepers peeled' for any out-of-habitat dolphin sightings brought in by high tides.

The network said that dolphins thrive best in salt water, rather than in the landlocked or freshwater areas they may find themselves in following a storm. In the event that future tropical activity washes up any of our 'flippered friends,' you can call 1-800-9MAMMAL to report the incident and get the animal some help.
