CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — It was a full-on fiesta over at the American Bank Center Friday night for the 32nd annual Fiesta de los Niños
Community members gathered to celebrate and support what Driscoll Children's Hospital means to South Texas.
The health care system has been serving the Coastal Bend since 1953 and it along with the other Driscoll Health clinics have no plans of slowing down!
Organizer Abby McComb shared with 3NEWS what the funds raised from this year's event will go toward.
"To build out the expansion of the pavilion and so that's gonna expand our heart center, that will give us four new surgical suites, two of them for surgical procedures, two of the for cardiac catheterizations and then we'll also have 35 cardiac ICU beds," McComb said.
Vice President for Development and Marketing Sean Pieri expressed his gratitude for the health care system.
"There's nothing better in town than Driscoll and what it does for our community and what it does for the employers in the community and taking care of the kids of South Texas," Pieri said.
Our Chief Meteorologist Alan Holt was serving as this year's emcee.
Driscoll will be opening a second hospital in Edinburg to continue serving the families and children of South Texas.
