CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — The Corpus Christi Fire Department was busy putting out flames at an abandoned nursing home Tuesday morning.
The call came in just before 2:00 a.m. at the building located along the 3100 block of McArdle near Kostoryz. It took crews nearly an hour to put down the fire and get a control time. The fire so large, it nearly required a second alarm.
Investigators say the building had been abandoned for some time, but there was evidence that someone was living inside one of the rooms. Fire was contained to two of the facilities rooms. According to officials there was no power going to the structure so finding a cause may be difficult.
No injuries were reported, but the building suffered major damage from the flames, smoke and water. Fire investigators on scene brought out a dog to help try and track down a source but was unsuccessful.
