CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Over 40 students from Flour Bluff High School's Navy Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (NJROTC) showed off their skills at a state competition with everything from physical fitness and drill team to academics. The students brought home top titles and much-deserved recognition.
The senior NJROTC instructor said his students have been working hard to prepare for the competition this since July 2023.
Student and NJRTOC member Hannah Holbrooks said they plan to do it again.
"We're definitely really really excited that we won state, but we have this drive and motivation for more, and we're excited to compete in our national competition in May and we hope to bring something back there," she said.
Holbrooks and her team took home first place in armed regulation and armed exhibition.
Her classmate Izabella Perez said the strategy she has right now is to keep practicing, so she and her team can take it all to nationals held in May.
