CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Bringing books to life!
That's what some folks did over at the Northshore Country Club Saturday in Portland, which hosted the 12th annual Table Decorating Luncheon, presented by the Friends of the Taft Public Library.
Events like this help to support the library in Taft, which has been serving the community for over 90 years!!!
Ground was just broken on the new one last month and is expected to be complete by the end of the year.
Competitors designed tables inspired by their favorite book for Saturday's event.
"The purpose of our luncheon started out to help support our library but also to encourage people to visit the library to find a special book, be creative and decorate a table from your book," said Melanie Hickey President, Friends of the Taft Public Library.
"From that theme and to come together as a community. Taft is a wonderful little community and it's really brought everyone together."
Our 3NEWSanchor Leslie Adami was one of this year's judges - and by the looks of the tables we've seen, it was no easy task! A job well done to all of this year's participants from all of us at TV-3.
