CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Over 700 women gathered at the American Bank Center for the American Heart Association's Go Red for Women Luncheon on Thursday.
The luncheon, which has been going on for 20 years now, happens locally as well as throughout the state and country.
A group of passionate leaders and women came together to inspire, educate and bring awareness to cardiovascular diseases like stroke and heart disease.
3NEWS caught up with development director of the luncheon, Adrianna Martinez, who spoke of the importance of not just looking out for yourself, but also for the women around you.
"We can educate them and help them understand what those signs are and what it is that we need to be looking out for not just in ourselves but in other women like our daughters, our mothers, our aunts, everyone else that is so important to us because we do know that this is the leading cause of death in women and there has to be a way to prevent that," Martinez said.
